Open Doors
This year we continued the series of Open Doors events relating to the industrial heritage of the village with an exhibition commemorating the Parc Slip mining disaster. On 26th August 1892 an explosion at the nearby Parc Slip colliery killed 112 men and boys, most of whom came from the neighbouring villages of Cefn Cribwr, Aberkenfig and Tondu. A footpath and cycle track next to the church leads to the memorial fountain at the Parc Slip Wildlife Trust. Refreshments were available at the church on both days.
The opening service for the church was held on 8th June 1868. To celebrate our 150th anniversary the following special events were organised during June 2018.
